Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.

I made a thing.

Some time ago, I watched a dude take a dead blow hammer apart to see what was inside.  It seemed really basic, and easy to make.  Flash forward to a few weeks ago, and an urge to create something Norse.

Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.

The project took about a week. I say a week, I mean a few hrs spread out over a week. Between work, babies, and daughters, it was an epic task.

The hammer is crafted from Canadian maple, and has air rifle pallets as the counter weight. I scrolled through the google, looking for classic pictures of Mjolnir, till I found one that caught my fancy, and I thought I could work with.  A half hour in inkscape, and a quick transfer to the Easel program from Inventables, followed by a few tweaks, and it was ready to go.

Flash forward again, to a point where I found some time, and the carving started.  I finished the whole project off in lacquer.

Hope you like the Video. It’s a bit long, I’m still learning how to do the video editing skills, but its worth a watch.

Head on over to my Instagram, to see other projects that I’ve been working on.

Thanks for the support.
